How to Lower Your Blood Pressure Naturally

Unless you happen to be a monk living in a tranquil monastery high atop the Himalayan Mountains, chances are you deal with your own fair share of stress. And with almost a full year now of dealing with a global pandemic, lockdowns and the resulting tanking economy, most of us are dealing with ridiculous amounts of stress these days. And all of this stress is wreaking havoc on our health!

When we experience chronic stress, our bodies are in a chronic state of “fight or flight.” When in this state, we create certain hormones (adrenaline, cortisol, etc.) that are supposed to help us fight the enemy or flee from the danger. This hormonal cocktail was perfect for keeping our early ancestors safe from invading tribes and hungry sabre tooth tigers.

But in our modern world where perceived threats and danger are high mortgage payments, killer commutes, tyrannical bosses and yes, global pandemics, this hormonal cocktail is constantly coursing through our veins, causing our blood vessels to constrict and our hearts to beat faster. And this, over time, leads to many of us developing high blood pressure!

Making Matters Worse

Now high blood pressure is bad enough. But to make matters worse, many of the common hypertension medications on the market come with some pretty nasty side effects. How nasty?

  • Cough
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Dizziness or light-headedness
  • Erection problems
  • Feeling nervous
  • Feeling tired
  • Mild headaches
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Skin rash
  • Weight loss or gain without trying

By the way, these side effects are what “health experts” or at least the writers hired to write all of that fine print in the little pamphlet, consider MILD side effects. Check out some of the more severe side effects of many common high blood pressure medications:

  • Increased blood sugar levels, leading to the risk of developing type 2 diabetes
  • Potassium loss impacting muscle (heart) function
  • Increased heart rate
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath/ difficulty breathing
  • A sudden drop in blood pressure
  • Depression

Now I don’t know about you, but it makes little sense to me why I would want to solve one health problem only to invite even more into my life. This is why so many people are now turning to natural remedies to lower their blood pressure.

If you or someone you love has high blood pressure and want to lower it naturally, here are some ways to do it:

Get Plenty of Exercise

Exercise is one of the greatest remedies for a multitude of health issues, high blood pressure certainly being one. And all it takes is moderate exercise like walking or biking a few times per week to start having those numbers come down.

Eat More Potassium-Rich Foods

Traditionally when a person is diagnosed with high blood pressure their doctor will recommend they cut a majority of the salt out of their diet. The truth is, sodium is incredibly important for our overall health, and even doctors now are telling patients they need to eat more of it.

The real problem is an imbalanced salt to potassium ratio. People get plenty of salt in their diet but not enough potassium. Potassium helps to relax your arteries so blood can flow more freely. Focus on eating more potassium-rich foods to keep your blood pressure nice and low.

Zen Out

Studies have shown that meditation is an effective way of beating the effects of stress on the body. All it takes is just 15-20 minutes each day to help you control your blood pressure.

Eat Royal Jelly

Royal jelly is a secretion of worker bees that is then fed to the Queen Bee, who grows and lives 10x bigger and longer than the rest of the bees. Royal jelly is chock full of important nutrients like vitamin B5, which lowers stress, and also provides other B vitamins plus vitamins A, C, D and E. Royal jelly also provides 20 amino acids, essential fatty acids, and important minerals such as potassium, calcium, zinc, iron and manganese.

But perhaps more importantly, royal jelly contains short chains of amino acids called peptides that block the effects of ACE (angiotensin converting enzymes). ACE is something that constricts our blood vessels. That’s why people with high blood pressure are put on “ACE inhibitors.” Well royal jelly is a natural ACE inhibitor with no nasty side effects.

Our Golden Royal Honey just happens to be chockful of Royal Jelly. If you’d like to try and get your blood pressure down naturally, try some Golden Royal Honey for yourself.
